England: Our Last Day in London

We woke up on our last day in London sweating once again since it was so hot. It was promising to be in the 90s again that day. We slathered on some sunscreen and left for the day. We really didn't have any plans, so we decided to just leisurely stroll around the city.

We started the day with some breakfast at a place right across the street from where we were staying. I had french toast and Trev got eggs benedict. Both were really good! I had a latte and Trev got an Americano, per usual.

Since we had a good experience at the Imperial War Museum the day before, we decided to try another museum the next day. We went to the Natural History Museum. It was huge. The only problem was, it was so packed (lots of Asians. Asians take a million selfies and have selfie sticks everywhere, and they are obnoxious. You may think i'm being rude saying that but once you've had about 26 selfie sticks shoved in your face when you are trying to look at museum exhibits, you would feel the same way.) and it also wasn't air conditioned. It was so stuffy inside that museum. We got to see a lot of cool, super old artifacts from Egypt (like Cleopatra's actual mummy body!), but honestly we didn't stay long. It was just too miserable inside.

After the museum we decided to just stroll the streets nearby. We ended up coming across a park in the middle of the city and Trev and I decided to just lay in the grass in the shade for a little. As we strolled through various parks that day, we noticed people lounging on picnic blankets just drinking wine in the middle of the park. We found this funny how over there you can just leisurely stroll around with open containers of alcohol. 

We then decided to head towards Buckingham Palace. We saw it from a distance our first day in London from the bus tour, but we wanted to actually walk up and see it up close.

After strolling by the Palace, we decided to walk to a nearby pub to get some lunch. We drank more local brews and enjoyed some sandwiches.

After our late lunch/dinner, we went back to our airbnb. We were so tired from being in the heat all day and also from lack of sleep from the past few days. We also had an early flight to Ireland the next morning, so we decided to get showers and get everything packed up and ready to go for the next day. I remember looking up the weather forecast for Ireland and it was supposed to be in the 60s there. We were so excited to get out of the heat!

Although London was fun, Trevor and I both agreed that we didn't care if we ever went back. In the end, it is just another big city. The heat and our airbnb pretty much ruined it for us. I am glad we went though because London has always been on my bucket list, but it wasn't for us.
