I left Chambersburg Hoss's in August. It was a really sad time for me because I was leaving my best friends, my work family. We were all so close, it made it hard. I was particularly close with Carissa and Eric because us three worked full time basically. None of us were in school, and all we did was work all week. These two were the people I spent the majority of my weekday mornings with, and in a restaurant, weekday mornings are the slowest times so we had a lot of downtime to just hang out and talk together. It was weird, this time in my life. All I did was work - and my boyfriend and all of my friends were away at school, so my coworkers were the only people I ever really saw for months on end.
Fast forward to the end of January of this year, the two people I was closest with - Carissa and Eric - were both moving. And I don't mean a minor move either, I mean they were both moving several states away. Carissa to Florida, and Eric to South Carolina. They both found job opportunities down there, and with no obligations back here, they accepted. I am so incredibly happy for both of them, but in selfish terms, I'm sad. I know people move on with their lives, and everyone promises they will come back and visit, but life changes so quickly. People lose touch... And soon, people who you see everyday become people that you may never see again.
Carissa had a going away party on January 31st, and it was partially for Eric too since he was leaving around the same time. Even though I now live two hours away from Chambersburg, I made it mandatory that I went to it. I knew that if I didn't go to say goodbye then, I may never see them again. I knew I would regret it. So I drove two hours and had dinner with them and the rest of our Hoss's friends at the Olive Garden. It was really bittersweet, a lot of fun, but sad too. It is sort of hard to think about how much life changes around us. How people weave in and out of our lives at a rapid speed..
I'm going to miss these two so much! They weren't just my coworkers, they were my best friends. I hope they both have fun and success in their lives... And I really hope they come back and visit. If not, I guess that means I have an excuse to go South for a little! ;)
