March goals!

Hi to the first day of March!

Reasons why I am so happy March is here:
1. February is over.
2. We are one month closer to summer (and graduation!).
3. This month usually promises a couple days of fair weather. Yes?

Other than those reasons, I kind of really dislike you March. March is like a huge tease.. they say that it is officially springtime, but it is really a false accusation.

Anyways, because it is a new month, I thought I would share my new goals for this month and recap on my February goals.

Here were my Feb goals:

1. Establish a regular sleep schedule.
I am actually pretty happy to say that this happened! I wasn't super strict every night, and sometimes on weekends I would hang out with friends late, but for the most part I got into a rhythm of going to bed around 10 or 11 and now my body naturally wakes me up around 7:30am. Trust me, I've even tried to sleep in longer than that and it just isn't possible ;)

At the beginning of the month I knew I really wanted to focus on my sleep so I downloaded a 99 cent app on my iPhone called Sleep Cycle that tracks your sleeping patterns and gently wakes you up within a period of 30 minutes when you are ready to wake up. I love this app! I really think it works for me. It even has sounds that you can listen to as you go to sleep, such as ocean waves, rainforest, white noise, etc. Trevor downloaded this app as well and we have both got better sleep this month. Score!

2. Read a book.
Ok. Read just one book? You guys are probably laughing. But I really struggle with this! I love to read, but I have trouble finding time to actually sit down and read. I always feel like I have a million things to do, and that I should be doing something else besides reading.

I started reading The Great Gatsby this month and I am about halfway through it now. I didn't actually accomplish this (yet), but I would call this a success because hey, at least I started to read! And I plan on finishing it as well. So yay.

3. Snail mail hand made Valentines to friends and family.
Do you agree that there really isn't anything better than getting actual mail? I do! It is so fun to check my mail and find letters in there because you feel like people really care. I was in a crafting mood and really wanted to make valentines to send to a few people. Here's what some of them looked like:

So much fun! Everyone loved them! And it felt so good to hear that people appreciated them.
I even got a card back in return from my friend Janelle:
How cute right? Those hearts on the inside of the card are little pop-up hearts!

But here we go. I thought I would continue with the goals idea, so here are my three goals (health goal, mental goal, and goal to do something for others) for March.

1. Make it a habit to go to the gym every M,W,F.
I know that the gym makes me just feel better in general, I just sometimes have trouble making myself go. This month i'm putting it into my schedule and forcing myself to go those days. I know I will thank myself in the end!

2. Write in my journal every single dang day.
I used to do this back in high school and it was not only therapeutic, but also fun because now I can go back and read my old journal just like a story of how my life was back then.

3. Donate blood!
I only donated once before a couple years ago (you can actually read my blog post about it here), and I've been wanting to donate again ever since. This seems like the perfect month to do it.

There we go! I'll update later on how i'm doing!
Happy March!
