Exciting news about our future!

Helloooo.

Just popping in here to write some much needed life updates. Life has been zooming by lately. I can't believe it's already the middle of July. Pretty soon it will be fall with pumpkin spice everything, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here ;)

I am so so happy to say that Trevor and I finally have took the leap of faith and quit our jobs, and are officially doing travel nursing starting August 1st! There are so many emotions going through my body right now that I'm not sure how to feel. First off, I have two shifts left at my job here in Altoona and I know i'm going to be super emotional. This past year has honestly been one of the best of my life working on L&D. My coworkers are like family, and I truly enjoy going to work every day. So I know that Saturday (my last day) I may cry just a little bit. But I know that if I don't do this, I will regret it.

When Trevor and I were about to graduate nursing school back in Spring 2014, we sat down and wrote what our future career goals were. Our first priority was to just get any kind of job we could so we could get experience. After that, we knew that we wanted to move into our specialties. I have always wanted to work in labor and delivery ever since I did my clinicals there my first year of nursing school. Trevor always has wanted to do ICU or ER. Then we had our hearts set on traveling. So our goals looked like this:

1. Get a job and get a year of experience there. (2014-2015)
2. Transfer to our dream specialty and get a year of experience there. (2015-2016)
3. Travel. (2016!)

Even though we knew what our career goals were, we had some doubts about traveling. We ended up buying a house and getting a dog in February. When we did that, we thought that we should probably just stay around here since it would be difficult to travel with a dog. And who would watch the house? Also, we were working jobs that we LOVED here in Altoona.

But in the back of our minds, we were a little disappointed that we weren't living up to our dream. Especially when one of our friends started traveling and she loved it.

We had many many discussions about what we thought we should do. We were so torn and went back and forth on our decision. However, when we finally set a date on when we would leave (August 1st), our plans were set in stone and it was like a switch in our minds flipped. We started talking to a travel nurse agency and made official travel plans. We haven't really looked back since. We can always come back to this town and get our jobs back, but if we don't travel now, we won't be able to once we have kids. This is literally a once in a lifetime opportunity for us!

We are headed to Boston, Massachusetts on August 1st. I can't wait to explore the city. I hear it is beautiful there! I'm planning on utilizing this blog to document everything I can so I can look back in the future and remember how much fun I had while traveling.

So now it's 1am and I am literally so excited to start sharing the news with everyone about my travels, and I can't stop thinking about future travel plans! If anyone has any suggestions on what I should add to my Boston bucket list, let me know!
