We were supposed to start work in Boston, Mass today, but unfortunately that job fell through. Our Massachusetts nursing licenses weren't going to come through in time to start work today, so we pulled the job. We are now headed out to New Mexico! We are going to be living about 30 miles from the Mexico border, and Trevor and I are so excited. Well.. excited/nervous. We both don't know Spanish AT ALL, and when we had our interviews, our soon to be managers told us that we get a lot of patients that don't speak English, etc. So this should be fun and pretty interesting.
Our plan is to leave maybe Wednesday (yes, the Wednesday that is in TWO DAYS) but we aren't 100% sure yet. We gotta talk to our travel nurse recruiter about housing, etc and make a final decision today. I'm excited because I've planned a 4 day drive to New Mexico and the stops include Nashville, Arkansas (to see our good friends!), Waco TX (to see the silos from the show Fixer Upper!), and finally head to NM. Each day we will drive 8-12 hours and then stop in the evenings.
So today I'm going to be cleaning the house like crazy and I guess starting to pack. I haven't started yet.. but it's hard because I still don't know exactly what I need to pack. We are going to rent a U-Haul that way we will be able to comfortably take all of our things along with the dog AND the cat in the car with us.
In other news that isn't related to traveling, I went to Emily's bridal shower on Saturday. I'm a bridesmaid in her wedding and she is getting married September 10th! The shower was a lot of fun.
After the shower I went to Trevor's friends Mike and Tori's wedding which was also a lot of fun, and they had a photobooth which is probably the funnest thing ever.
Okay! I'm going to go start cleaning and organizing and packing. And calling the vet to get a sedative for the cat, because let's be real, 4 days in the car with a screaming cat just isn't gonna work.
