Hey guys! I'm currently writing to you from our apartment in Alexandria, VA. We are halfway through this assignment already (I know!) and it is flying by. I honestly can't believe this assignment is halfway over. Trevor and I are looking to extend our contract another 13 weeks, so we will be here until early June. Fingers crossed that they need us and we are able to extend! We are already settled into this apartment and we love our jobs, so I really hope we can stay.
Our lives have been so hectic lately, that's probably why it feels like this assignment is flying by. The first two weeks we lived with Clinton and Chelsey while we were in the process of getting our own apartment. Then the holidays came and went, and Trevor and I had basically been living out of our duffle bags. We have been living in-between our house in PA and then coming back to D.C. to work. While we both love being able to be home when we are off, it is so hard to live in two places! We want to eat healthy, but it is very hard to buy groceries when you are planning on only staying in one place for a few days to a week. If anyone has any suggestions on how to make healthy meals that you can pack to go & travel with I am open to any suggestions!
We both love our jobs here. Everyone has been very friendly and helpful. However, this is an entirely different pace than the hospital we were at in New Mexico. As soon as we get to work, we hit the ground running from clock in to clock out. It definitely makes our 12 hour shifts go by quick!
The benefit of living close to home is that it makes it easy to get wedding planning done. We are now only 184 days away from our wedding! While that seems like a lot, it really will go by quickly. I'm hoping to have most of the month of June off so that I can finalize some last minute details without having to worry about work. We shall see. I've been really excited about wedding planning lately and I have a bunch of ideas that I can't wait to incorporate.
Alexandria, where our apartment is, is so beautiful. We live right along the river and there is a trail right outside where I can walk Timber along the river.
Alexandria is filled with old historic brick buildings that are so beautiful. There are a lot of local eateries that Trevor and I can't wait to check out! Last night Trevor and I went to "Hank's Oyster Bar" which was a seafood place. We shared some oysters together and then we both had oyster po boy sandwiches for dinner. It was so good!
As soon as the weather starts to get nice, I want as many people to come down and visit me as possible! I'm excited to finally see the cherry blossoms this year, and also do some sight seeing.
Over & Out!
Hilary
