Hey guys! I'm home on a Friday night and Trevor is working, so I thought i'd pop on here quick and talk about what we've been up to lately and what has been happening over the past few months!
- First off, this has been the longest winter as long as I can remember. We are now more than half way through April and we consistently are still getting snow. It is literally driving us all crazy because it has been a rough winter with lots of cold weather and snow. Thankfully on the 15 day forecast, I see a lot of 50-60 degree temps and *knock on wood*, there's currently no more snow in the foreseeable future! Since we've been stuck inside all winter, I've taken some pictures of happenings around our house:
- Trevor and I ended up shiplapping the wall in our kitchen behind our dining room table. I'm so pleased with how it turned out, and the project was super easy/affordable!
- For Valentine's Day, a local flower shop was holding "Make your own bouquet" classes. Trevor's mom and I enjoyed an evening making flower arrangements and sipping wine! I'm so glad there are more smaller businesses coming to our area.
- Speaking of fun classes, Trevor's mom also arranged a wine and paint night party for the MS Society that we went to and had a blast:
- One weekend in March, Trevor and I spent the night at my parent's cabin. We love going to the cabin because it is in the middle of nowhere and there's no cell service, so you are focused on truly enjoying the moment instead of being on your phone. I woke up early in the morning, went on a small hike/walk through the woods, and then took these photos:
- Working on the higher up floors of the hospital, we often get the best views of our town. Especially at sunrise/sunset.
- I took Timber on a couple hikes on the mountain by our house:
For Chelsey's birthday we went out for drinks and ended up dancing to a local cover band:
One of my best friends Elaina, who was a bridesmaid in our wedding, is engaged and asked me to be a bridesmaid in hers! I am so excited to be part of her big day!
- I officially paid off my student loans back in March! We are one step closer to completing our debt snowball and becoming debt free! I was ecstatic when I saw this message on my loan website:
Other things to note:
- Our basement has been consistently flooded for about two months now. We have tried so many things to fix it, and nothing is working. We are going to call professionals this week, because i'm sick of putting on boots to wade through water to do our laundry. We are afraid that it's going to cost an arm and a leg to fix, but I guess that's the joy of being a homeowner!
- I'm still loving my new job. I've been there almost 6 months, and i'm off orientation on my own in May. Everyone has been so nice and great to work with.
- Trevor is most likely going to have a major back surgery in July. For those of you that don't know, Trevor hurt his back almost 2 years ago at work by pulling a patient up in bed. He's had constant pain since then and has tried absolutely everything, from the chiropractor, to massages, to stretching, to a TENS unit, to help with the pain, but nothing has been able to relieve it. His back pain was actually one of the major reasons why we quit travel nursing and came back home. We wanted him to have access to a doctor in our area that we knew and trusted, and for him to be able to finally fix this pain. I'm nervous because it is such a big surgery and he will be off work anywhere from 4-6 months, but it will be such a relief for him to be back to his normal self again.
- We've been officially home for 6 months now, but i'm already itching to be back on the road. There's so much freedom and flexibility that comes with travel nursing, and i'm feeling constricted by having a permanent job that dictates how much vacation time I can take. Trevor and I have signed 2 year contracts here in PA, but we are already talking about the possibility of traveling again once our 2 years are up in January 2020. It's a long ways away though, so who knows!
- We are getting our passports this weekend and counting down the days until we leave for Europe! We still have a lot to plan, but we are really excited.
Over and out.
