As we stayed in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee we felt it was necessary to go hiking at least once on our trip. We heard from our White Water Rafting guide (more on that later...) that there was a great hiking trail with a swimming hole right up the road from where we were, so we decided to check that out.
Now, mind you, our family isn't real big on hiking. I really enjoy it, but I am probably the one that hikes the most in our family, which really isn't that much at all. But we still had a great time.First we hiked to the Midnight Hole and then we went on to Mouse Creek Falls.
To Mouse Creek Falls it was a 2 mile hike both ways, but it wasn't a hard hike at all. It was mainly just a straight path in the woods. The falls were really pretty, but the water was FREEZING. Probably 40-50 degrees. We took a lot of pictures:
Got one of the sibs:
On the way back we stopped again at the "Midnight Hole" which was a bunch of rocks you could jump off of into a swimming hole. But remember how cold the water was at Mouse Creek Falls? Yep, it obviously was the same water. IT WAS FREEZING.
The water felt like the Titanic. It really took the breath out of you! I had a hard time swimming back to shore, it was so cold I felt like I couldn't move my limbs.
I like this one of Luke:
But anyways, that concludes the end of our hiking trip. It took us about 4 hours to complete only because we stopped so long to take pictures and explore. It was a great time and I'm glad we went.
