We are ENGAGED!

A couple weeks ago (on the 12th), Trevor asked me to marry him!

It started out as a normal Friday. We were going out to dinner that night at the Ale House for our 3-year anniversary which was the next day. Trevor was acting perfectly normal... nothing out of the ordinary. We got ready for dinner and had an amazing time at the Ale House (per usual!). We both got steaks, wine, and mac and cheese.

On the way home, it was snowing pretty bad so we drove slow.

When we pulled into our driveway, all of the lights in the house were on! Did we forget to turn off the lights?
Then I saw people moving around inside... who I recognized as his mom and dad!

I was confused... did they come to hang out with us? His parents sometimes just pop in and out so it wasn't surprising. Suddenly they turned the lights out. We walked up to the front door and as we opened it, we heard the back door close. We then saw them pulling out of our driveway backwards. I stood on our front porch steps, trying to wave them down and tell them that, "Hello! Stop! We are here and you can stay and hang out with us!"

It became apparent that they weren't stopping, so I turned around to go inside. I saw that our fireplace was on. What? Then I looked down and saw rose petals everywhere. Oh. Trevor is going to propose. I felt stupid ;)

My heart was POUNDING as I walked in. I saw candles everywhere, a vase full of roses, a bottle of wine, and a card. Trevor told me to read the card. Inside read something like, "Hilary, I love you and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."

When I turned around, Trevor grabbed my hands, got down on one knee, and said "Hilary, will you marry me?" Then he showed me the most gorgeous ring ever.

I was so happy, that I didn't even answer! I just bent down and kissed him and hugged him, then finally I said "yes!" ;)

We hugged forever. I couldn't believe it. My best friend just asked me to marry him, and it was so sweet and romantic! (minus us catching his parents setting it up.. haha, it will just be a funny story for us to tell in the future!)

I couldn't stop smiling that whole night. I called my parents, Carly, Grandma, Janelle, Chelsey, and texted a couple close friends! I was on cloud 9!

I still can't stop staring at my left hand :)

Right now we are thinking either summer of fall 2017 for a wedding. That way, we can have plenty of time to save and plan. Hopefully we can get our venue booked soon!

I plan on using this blog for wedding planning so I can remember this time of my life when I am engaged.

I can't believe that I get to marry Trevor. He makes me the happiest I've ever been, and he is so incredible sweet. I can't wait to navigate through life with him.
