Pregnancy Update: Month 4!

My Pregnancy: Month 4

How pregnant am I?: Currently 16 weeks pregnant! Almost halfway there! :)

How big is baby?: Baby is the size of a dill pickle this week. I snuck a couple more peeks at the baby on an ultrasound at work this month and Baby Beiswenger actually looks like a baby now!
It was funny seeing the baby curled up with his/her forehead basically against the knees. It didn't look like a comfy position at all!

Weight gain: 6 pounds! I think maybe I should start exercising again.. haha

Body & Changes: I am finally starting to look pregnant! It seriously happened overnight around 15 weeks. I noticed that for the first time in months, I didn't have to get up in the middle of the night to pee. That day, my belly was really popping out! I think my uterus finally shifted from behind my pelvis to up into my abdomen.

Clothes: Leggings and maternity jeans are my BFF. I could probably still fit into my old jeans (maybe?), but I haven't even tried. I still have been wearing my regular shirts though, although now I can feel my belly skimming the front of them. I'm going to wear them all as long as I possibly can!

What I've been eating: Once I hit the magic 2nd trimester (14 weeks), I started to feel better immediately. My nausea went away, and I started to be hungry again! Actually, my appetite came back with a vengeance. I'm still drinking a lot of milk which has been my main craving. Trevor and I go through 3 boxes of cereal and 4 gallons of milk a week between the both of us.

The food aversions are still very real for me right now though. The thought of grilled chicken makes me want to throw up. Actually, any kind of meat really isn't appetizing right now. I'm also still not into sweet stuff which I'm finding so strange. I wonder if my cravings for milkshakes and desserts will return once I'm further along?

Any movement: Last week if I laid flat on my back and slowed my breathing and really concentrated, I could feel the tiniest flutters in my belly! And then at the end of this week I was at work during an operation and I felt stronger kicks! I was so happy I could have cried (pregnancy hormones), it's just like a little communication between you and your baby that no one else knows about. I have an anterior placenta meaning that my placenta is in the front of my uterus and right on my belly. Because of this, I only feel the baby move if he/she kicks the back of my uterus towards my spine. Once I'm further along, like 23+ weeks and baby's kicks are even stronger, I should start feeling movement in the front too.

Sleep: A little bit of energy has returned thank god, but I still can't get enough naps. I'm kind of convinced that i'm just going to be tired the rest of my life now.

Emotions: Not quite as bad as the first trimester, although the littlest things do still make me cry. Trevor and I went to see "A Star is Born" last night and I was bawling hysterically for about 20 minutes after we left the theater.

Purchases: No purchases yet! I'm so proud of myself and a little surprised. However, i'm on vacation next week and I'm planning on spending the whole week cleaning out the guest bedroom, scrubbing it, and turning it into a nursery! :-)

What I miss: This month i've been missing wine and Blue Moon Pumpkin beer. Also I've been missing the energy I used to have prior to getting pregnant.

What I'm looking forward to: At my next OB appointment, we will be scheduling our anatomy ultrasound and I am beyond excited! I can't wait for Trevor to see the baby again because he hasn't seen the baby since 7 weeks! Also, we have decided that we aren't finding out the gender! I am so excited about this. I know that the surprise at birth will be amazing!

Best moment of the week: Just watching my belly slowly grow. Every morning I wake up and look at it in the mirror and I love seeing it get bigger every week!
