Last time I updated on our kitchen, I was busy staining our shelving. Well, I'm happy to say that we have finally completed our subway tile backsplash!
Let me just say that completing a subway tile backsplash is no joke for the novice DIYer. Trevor and I bought a cheap wet saw from Habor Freight and put up the whole thing ourselves. I worked on placing the tiles while Trevor did the cutting. Trevor says that the saw we bought was so difficult to use. It was nearly impossible to cut the tiles exactly how you wanted them.. and it took Trevor a long time to cut a tile exactly right. Trevor had never run a wet saw before in his life, and I think he did a great job for his first time! Overall, it took us about a week to complete this project. We really took our time, especially with cutting the tiles and making sure each piece fit perfectly.
Although it is mostly all completed, we are waiting on our contractor to swing by to repair some drywall and install our new range hood over the stove. Until then, we still have a couple more tiles to lay. We also still have to grout and caulk the wall behind the stove, but then we will be done!
I'm so happy with how it looks!
Next up: painting the cabinets. :-)
