Happy Monday! Today I'm writing about our bedroom makeover, and how we made it a lot more cozy.
When we started traveling and staying in various hotels, I fell in love with how soft pillows on a bed could be and how great it feels to wrap up in a down filled duvet. I realized that I wanted to upgrade our bedding and give it that luxurious hotel feel. You spend so much of your life sleeping, why shouldn't you treat yourself to the best bedding possible?
Anyways, here is what we started with when we first moved in:
Even though our bedroom is small, Trevor and I treated ourselves to a king sized bed. After cramming both of us into a full sized bed for several years, we really wanted an upgrade. It is easily one of the best decisions we've made regarding furniture in this house. We also bought this wooden bed frame and although it is beautiful, it took up a lot of space in our tiny room. I bought the white comforter you see above on sale from Kohl's and while it looks beautiful in the picture, it didn't last. (why didn't I listen to Trevor when he begged me not to buy white? Lesson learned.)
A couple months ago, West Elm was having a major bedroom sale. The bed frame I had been eyeing up for the past several months was $300 off the original price, and the bedding was all 40% off. I jumped on the opportunity and bought both the bed frame and a new duvet cover. To save money, I then ordered a new quilt and a duvet insert from Target.
We still have a little more updating to do, like adding curtains, adding a rug, changing the light fixtures, new nightstands, and sanding our hardwoods, but I love the vibe our room has now! It feels so much more cozy and inviting, especially with the dark walls. Since the weather is getting cooler around here, I never want to get out of bed in the morning!
