At the end of May, back when me and some of my friends had all just graduated from college, we decided to go out for dinner and margaritas to celebrate. We all talked about how we wanted to go to the beach one last time before we all got "big girl" jobs and turned into adults and all of that lame, boring stuff. So, in less than 24 hours, we decided that the very next weekend we were all going to the beach together and we even booked the hotel and everything.
8 days later, we were OCEAN CITY bound! Holla!
The first day when we got there, it was FREEZING. Like.. 60 degrees and raining kind of freezing.
So, it turns out that none of us looked at the weather forecast at all as we were packing for the beach. We all just assumed it was going to be warm and sunny, so I think we packed like one sweatshirt, and Lexi was the only one that packed a pair of jeans. Needless to say, we were freezing the entire time! All I had packed were tank tops and dresses.
We stayed on the boardwalk and walked around that night. Even though the weather was cold, we made ourselves get dressed to go out (after a 3 hour nap in our hotel room!)
We went into Shananegan's on the boardwalk and got some of their famous shamrock frozen drinks which were pretty good!
We went to bed early that night so we could get up early to (hopefully) go to the beach.
When we woke up the next morning, the sky was overcast again (but a little warmer! thankfully) so we decided to ride bikes on the boardwalk.
After that, we got a couple donuts from the Fractured Prune (yum!), some coffee, and went back to the hotel. We forced ourselves to go out to the beach even though it was still cold and cloudy. This is what we mostly looked like all day:
We were all huddled up under our towels trying to stay warm.
That night the clouds started to open up, and it warmed up a little! It was enough for us to put our dresses on and decide to go out for dinner. But first we took a little photo shoot on the beach of course! ;)
We went to dinner at Macky's Bar and Grill that night. We ate dinner outside by the bay, and we got to see the sunset over the bay which was pretty awesome. I'm such a sucker for pretty sunsets.
The next day at the beach was actually nice and sunny! We took full advantage of it and stayed in the sun from about 9:30am-4pm. We soaked in every ray we possible could. I think it took us all day to defrost from the previous two days.
That night we ate dinner at a mexican place on the boardwalk, then we went to Seacrets, which I'm pretty sure is a must if you are in Ocean City. I've never been there before so I was pretty amazed at how huge that place is. It is all outside, and it was pretty cold again that night, so we didn't stay too long. But it was really pretty there. I would like to go back again when it is really hot out and eat at the tables that are actually IN the bay! How cool.
Finally, our last day on the beach was another beautiful day. It was still a little chilly, like high 60's-70, but the warm sun made up for it. We were all so sunburned from the day before that we all slathered on SPF 50 on every inch of our bodies. Janelle opted to just wrap up in a little towel cocoon to stay away from the sun
Standing beside Emily and Lexi makes me look like a giant! (i'm only 5'4)
Then on the way home we stopped for some ice cream to put an end to our weekend trip. And then we all wanted to cry as we said goodbye to Ocean City.
Other little things that happened on the trip I want to remember:
- We stayed at the Harrison Hall, which is a cheap, outdated, little place, but it wasn't too bad! It had big chairs on the porch that we could sit on.
- I was in the middle of studying for my nursing boards, the NCLEX, and forced myself to do questions out of this huge book every day.
- Janelle brought along a beach chair and put it up on the first day, and we couldn't figure out how to close it the whole time! It was kind of funny. On the last day we ended up asking this cute older guy on the beach to help us out, and he had it all folded up in less than 10 seconds, really. It made us feel kinda dumb :p
- Every night we went out, we ended up running into a bachelor party of guys that were all older than 30 that would insist on buying us drinks. It was kind of funny but we always had to politely say that we all had boyfriends, haha.
- We ate pizza probably like 4 or 5 times in a matter of 4 days.
- The trip was a perfect way to start off the summer! It was a great time :)
