and today, my butt hurts.
Yesterday Trev and I took the tandem two-seater bike out to the "Rails to Trails" biking path which is roughly 17.5 miles one way, so naturally we decided to bike the entire thing.
Rails to Trails is a really easy bike ride, down a path in the woods that runs through a town, and mostly stays beside the crick (or creek, for you non-PA people), so it's a really pretty ride.
I never rode on a tandem bike before, so it was really scary at first. I was the person in the back, so I couldn't really see what was coming ahead of us and i wasn't in charge of steering at all, which was really strange. We kept wobbling in the beginning because I kept trying to look over Trevor's shoulder to see what was coming, but then I quickly learned that I had to just look from side to side and I couldn't try to look forwards. But after we got past the wobbliness and got used to riding, it was so fun. We were going pretty fast really easily because there were two of us using leg power to go. I loved riding right behind Trev too because we got to talk and have conversations the entire time because we were literally right in front of and behind each other.
We rode the 17 miles to the end and it was fun, but as soon as we started back, we realized that we may have rode too far because our butts were both KILLING us. And our hands kept going numb because we were leaning down onto our handlebars, which was more annoying than anything. The last 5 miles were a killer. We were both pedaling like crazy to get to the end. We were going so fast. Then, as soon as we were done, i'm pretty sure my leg muscles all immediately cramped up because I went from pedaling as fast as I could, to an immediate stand still.
Overall I had a great time and it was a beautiful ride. I loved talking to Trev while riding. Maybe next time, we just won't go all 34 miles ;) We are heading back to the beach in 2 weeks and we will be riding the tandem down there too.
So, after we came home and inhaled pulled pork sandwiches at his parents house, I ended the night watching Pretty Little Liars with Chelsey. By the way.. that finale?? What do you guys think? *Spoiler alert* I was actually starting to learn to love Mona! So I was so sad she died! And Alison scares the crap out of me. AH.
So readers, moral of this story is, if you don't really go biking at all, please don't try to bike 34 miles in one day, because your butt will turn completely black and blue. The end
