This
day was probably one of my most anticipated ones. First, I had never
been in Texas before. Second, we were planning on staying in Waco,
which is home to HGTV's Chip and Joanna Gaines! I was so excited to
go see the silos which is their shop that has merchandise, home
goods, a bakery, and food trucks.
We
left Arkansas bright and early at 4:30am (Thanks, Timber.. see yesterday's post) and we had
short 8 hour day of driving ahead of us. We passed through Oklahoma
most of the day, then finally we went into Texas. We hit the Dallas
traffic, and again.. I was driving on 5 lane highways with the
trailer through this! I swear, Trevor made me drive the most
difficult parts through all the major cities, but I guess now I can
say that i'm a pro. Can I just say that Dallas is HUGE? It took us
forever to get through it, miles and miles long. So much bigger than
Pittsburgh.
After
Dallas, we only had a couple hours to go before Waco. We saw the
cheapest gas prices here ($1.70/gal, anyone?) and also it was
basically just the middle of nowhere.
When
we finally got into Waco, we checked into our hotel and took a little
nap. We were both exhausted from getting up so early. After our nap,
we went out and went to check out the silos! They were just as cool
as they look on TV.

I was swooning over these window boxes. I mean... how do I get this for my house?

I was too busy shopping to take pictures inside, but I did snap this photo of Chip's corner!

Another food truck that was closed when we were there, but if you watch the show, you will recognize this!
I bought a t-shirt that says Waco on it, and then I bought a cute little metal sign that says, "Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be." Which is also from the show. I wish we could of saw Chip and Jo while we were there!
Texas
is HOT guys. I mean, it was 6pm there and still 105 degrees. Trevor
and I were not having it. It really felt like the sun was burning
your skin off. After the silos, we went to dinner and ate at a
Mexican place called Ninfas. We ate authentic TexMex, and it was
delicious. Trevor drank a total of 6 waters there (not kidding), and
I had a margarita which was delish.
After
dinner, we went back to the hotel and watched the opening ceremony of
the Olympics which Trevor entertained me with his commentary. We decided to let Timber out that night to sleep in our
king sized bed with us, because he wasn't tolerating his crate very
well. That was probably the best decision we made because we went to
bed at 10:30pm and slept until 7am, and Timber was just curled up
right beside me the entire time.
We
woke up the next morning and were ready to hit the road for NEW
MEXICO! Hooray!
Xoxo
Hilary
