That broke life, yo, plus a hike! Because hikes are free.

After we paid for our first month's rent in Deming, we had about $200 to our names. Our mortgage company was calling us telling us to pay our bill. We had other bills that just couldn't be paid. We still had NO idea when we were starting to work because we were still waiting on our New Mexico nursing licenses to come through. Those first days were scary. I've never been that broke before. Trevor and I drove to Walmart and picked up a ton of ramen noodles, pasta, cereal, and stuff to make sandwiches.. just anything to sustain us until we started working.

I'm pretty prissy, I'll admit. I can survive on Ramen, but I won't be happy about it (Trevor will attest to that!). I never eat that kind of stuff ever, and here I had to eat it at every meal. I'm so picky about what I eat, and it usually isn't that processed junk.

Monday we sat around our apartment that was unfurnished other than our bed, and we literally just stared at each other. We would wake up around 7am, take Timber for a walk, and then take a nap in the middle of the day. Actually, it is way too hot here to do anything other than take a nap in the middle of the day, i'm convinced.

Tuesday it was cloudy in the morning and a little cooler than usual, so I forced Trevor to get out of the house with me to take a hike. Anything to get our minds off of the fact that we were in the middle of nowhere New Mexico with no jobs and no money.

The hike was beautiful and super easy. It was only about a mile. I love the landscape out here.

See that shirt i'm wearing? That was my BEDBUG INFESTED shirt that got washed immediately as soon as I found a washer and dryer.

And apparently, there are rocks out here that if you crack them open, they have cool gems inside that are saved from a volcanic explosion thousands of years ago. Neat!

Happy Friday! Today is our first payday so we are extra excited for the weekend!
