Wedding planning: Our Venue & Date!

In between posts about our travels, I'm going to throw in a couple wedding posts here and there!

Wedding planning has been so much fun for me. About a month after we got engaged, we started looking at venues because we knew that they can get booked fast. Trevor and I went and saw Gillbrook Farms, which is a rustic venue where you can get married outside underneath a willow tree and the reception is inside a barn. We instantly loved it. However, choices on dates were extremely limited. We originally wanted to get married in September 2017, but there wasn't anything available then. There were about 4 dates, one in May, one in June, one in July, and one at the end of August. We ended up picking the one in July. July 8th, 2017 is our wedding date!

Although July wasn't our first choice, we are really excited about it now because a July wedding will fit in perfectly with our travel nursing schedules, plus my mom (who is a teacher) will be able to completely help out with everything without worrying about getting time off work.

Trevor and I are both in love with Gillbrook Farms. We love how the ceremony and the reception will all be at the same place. The farm is absolutely gorgeous. I think it will be perfect.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from Gillbrook's Facebook page of the venue.

The barn
The farm is surrounded by beautiful fields in every direction.
Trevor and I have both the option to get married outside underneath a willow tree, OR there is an inside option that is underneath the barn. We are thinking that if the weather is perfect (aka, 75 degrees) then we will go with the outside option, but if it is hot, rainy, or just icky outside, we will opt for the inside option. Both are beautiful!

Outside underneath the willow tree
Underneath the barn it stays cool all year round because the barn is built into a bank. The white exposed beams, stained glass windows, and barn doors are what I love about this inside option.

The inside option also makes the wedding have a more "intimate" feel as everyone's closer together and there aren't any outside distractions.

Here's a sneak peak of the reception area in the barn:

I am in love with this place.

Only 312 days to go! ;-)
