Our Wedding Day: The Ceremony

Of the entire day, our ceremony is probably the most of a blur to me now. I was so nervous/excited that it flew by. I remember every word of Trevor's vows and his mom crying in the front row, but not much else. I'm excited to see our wedding video to see the details I didn't notice!

Our ceremony and reception were both at the beautiful Gillbrook Farms. Gillbrook has an area underneath the barn that is filled with rustic white beams, stained glass windows, and old planks filling the walls. Trevor and I decided to have our ceremony there as opposed to being outside because not only was it beautiful, but the enclosed space felt a little more "intimate" than being outside and we also weren't sure what the weather would hold. Preparing to be inside to begin with would save us some hassle if the weather decided not to cooperate.

My goal for the ceremony was to make it as personal and meaningful as possible. Our officiant was actually a mayor from a town close to where I grew up, and a friend of my mom and uncle. He did a great job, and it was his first wedding! We kinda let him have the reins on basically everything in the ceremony, and he included some well thought of readings, a prayer, and stories.

The ceremony music was performed by my Uncle Doug. He sang some songs while everyone was seated and then played the instrumentals as we walked down the aisle! Fun fact: Before the wedding started, my uncle played a song he wrote for me when I was first born called "Sweet Princess Hilary". It talked about how much I weighed at birth, etc. I wish I could have heard it, and I was wondering if any of my guests caught the fun details in the song.

Another meaningful detail: Trevor and I wrote our own vows. Future brides to be, I urge you to do this! This was absolutely my favorite moment of the entire day. So funny story, I actually had to beg Trevor to do this. He was very reluctant at first and wanted to just say the regular vows. However, I knew how meaningful it would be if we tailored our vows to each other specifically. Trevor and I actually didn't read our vows to each other beforehand either, so the first time we both heard them was at the altar. It was so meaningful and special! (We had my sister read over both of our vows beforehand to make sure they were similar.)

The best moment of the day, walking away as Mr. and Mrs!

And then just a few of my favorite pictures of us from right after the ceremony:
