So, on this lovely Friday night I am home alone doing some projects and figured I could use something sweet to eat. Well lately I've been eating Rice Krispy Treats like it's my job. We ran out and needed some more, so I figured I would make some.
HERE'S WHAT YOU DO.
Ingredients
- 6 Cups of Rice Krispies
- Bag of Marshmallows
- 3 Tbsp. Butter
- 1 Tsp. Vanilla
Melt the butter in a saucepan over the stove at a low heat. One the butter is completely melted, add the bag of marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Then remove from heat. Add a teaspoon of vanilla and stir in.Then, slowly start adding your Rice Krispies and stirring them in the melted mixture until everything is evenly distributed. Then using a large spoon, scrape the Rice Krispies in the sauce pan into a cake pan.
The Rice Krispies won't lay flat, so what I do is wrap my hand in plastic wrap, spray it with cooking spray, and smoosh the krispies down until they all lay flat and evenly in the pan. You can also use wax paper to do this.
Cut and enjoy! :)
What I think:
Now, the original recipe doesn't call for a tsp. of vanilla, but I think it adds a little extra kick to the mix. I've also used 1/4 cup of peanut butter instead of the vanilla, and that is really good as well! There are many substitutions and possiblities you could make. For example, I really want to try Coco Krispies instead of regular. I've also heard about using Fruity Pebbles, but i'm really not sure if I'd like that!
What are your experiences on making Rice Krispy Treats? Do you have any special "tips" or "tricks"?
